Named “Sicilian balcony” for its panoramic position, the town offers fascinating corners and unexpected routes.
The visit starts with the Cathedral dedicated to S.Maria La Nova, going forth with the Oil Museum set in the baroque Montesano Palace. We’ll go on through the upper side of the town, the medieval heart where you can admire the Annunziata Arch, the one door survived to the earthquake of 1693, on which overlooks San Giovanni Battista’s with its wonderful sight. To conclude, a pleasant stroll inside the eight-hundred Town Gardens with their precious ornaments in Caltagirone ceramic.
Just going outside the town you’ll find the small Gulfi Sanctuary, which keeps a statue of a Madonna with child put on a beautiful baroque canopy .
